Every volunteer parent-coach
Free-to-cheap online + in-person modules (4v4, 7v7, 9v9, 11v11) via the U.S. Soccer Learning Center. Start with the free Intro to Grassroots — 20 minutes, genuinely useful.

Committed club & travel coaches
The first full license: blended online + field sessions run through state associations (MSYSA hosts Michigan courses). Focus: designing real training sessions and coaching game moments.
⏱ ~2–3 months blended
Career-minded youth coaches
The gateway to the professional pathway — deeper periodization, player analysis, and a real performance bar. Most GLPL/national-platform head coaches hold a C or higher.
⏱ ~4–6 months
Full-time professionals
Senior and youth A-licenses and the Pro license — required territory for academy directors and pro staff. If your club's DOC holds one, that's a good sign about the club's coaching culture.
