Print it · Take it to tryouts
Tryouts are the one moment a family has real leverage, and most of us walk in with no plan. This is the plan: ten questions worth asking, a worksheet that exposes the true cost of a season, and the going rate at every level in Michigan.

…and five more in the PDF.
Dues are almost never the real number. The worksheet gives you a column per club and a row for every line that actually hits your bank account — dues, kit, tournament fees, fuel, hotels, meals on the road, extra training, winter indoor. Fill it in for two or three clubs and the comparison becomes obvious in a way that a conversation never is.
The last section is the going rate at each level, from rec through the national platforms, with a note on what you're actually paying for. Cost tracks travel distance and platform branding far more than it tracks coaching quality — which is worth knowing before you assume the expensive option is the better one.
This guide is generated from the same research that powers the pages below — so when the site is updated, the printable is rebuilt from it rather than drifting out of date.
The whole Michigan pyramid on one comparison sheet — season cost, how far you drive, and whether high school soccer still fits.
