Great Lakes Premier League

The top rung of Michigan's own statewide ladder — and the door to national league play.

What it is

GLPL is MSPSP's elite division — it replaced Premier 1 as the highest level of Michigan's statewide league. Teams earn their way in through MSPSP results, and GLPL in turn serves as the qualifying league into USYS National League competition. For a family that wants serious competition without committing to a national platform's travel bill, this is the most under-discussed lane in Michigan soccer: you play strong teams, mostly inside the state, and the ladder upward is genuinely open.

High school & this league

Works around the MHSAA seasons like the rest of the MSYSA structure — this is a lane where playing high school soccer is normal, not negotiated.

The parent takeaway

If the national-platform travel and cost don't fit your family but your player needs a harder game than local travel, start here. A strong GLPL team with a good coach develops a player better than a bench role two tiers up.
