Boys in fall, girls in spring — and one rule every club family must know.
MHSAA soccer runs boys in fall and girls in spring, with district-to-state tournaments in four enrollment divisions. The Limited Team Membership rule bars playing club and high school simultaneously in-season — violations cost a minimum three contest dates. Girls get a narrow exception for two college ID camps; boys get none. MLS NEXT requires a signed waiver for boys who want to play for their school.

The parent takeaway
College coaches recruit at club showcases, not Friday night games — but high school soccer offers leadership, community, and joy that keep players in the sport. It's not either/or for most Michigan girls; it often is for MLS NEXT boys.
